Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 51171
problem aligning text in Impress
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:21:02 UTC
I've been able to reproduce the following problem with Impress, using m109 on win XP Pro. I click on the 'T' icon, then click in a document, and type text. If I try changing its alignment (left, centered, right, justified) with either shortcut keys or the buttons, the text is always left-justified. If I click and drag to first make a text frame, then type the text, the alignment changes are effective. Odd... Thanks.
One for me (cgu)
OOo3.0
Please have a look.
Seconding reproduction of this on Windows XP SP2 & OOo 1.9.118. Works... + Click on the 'T' icon in the Drawing toolbar. + Drag a text frame + Type text inside text frame. + Click the Alignment buttons > text aligns correctly + Resize text frame larger + Click the Alignment Buttons > text aligns correctly Broken... + Click on the 'T' icon in the Drawing toolbar. + Click on document and type "one two three four five six seven eight nine ten" on line 1 and "eleven twelve" on line 2. > watch text frame dynamiclly growing in width + Click the Alignment buttons > nothing happens + Resize text frame larger + Click the Alignment Buttons > alignment occurs incorrectly with the original right margin btw, this seems more like a defect than an enhancement.
- version changed to m109 (original reporter's version) - OS changed to all (same behaviour for Linux, ...) - issue confirmed, problem is still in m121
I change the target to OOo3.0
Retargeted to OOo Later
Defect reproduced with OOo 2.4.1 on Win XP (but seems to be hazardous).
Wow, after 3 years it's interesting to revisit this! OOo 3.0 beta 2, on opensuse 11.1 alpha 1, x86-64 hardware: justifying text seems to work! On a related note, one can add text stops to text in impress, but it seems there's no obvious way (maybe no way at all?) to make tab stops anything other than left justified.
