Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50915
redlined references affect the bibliography
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
When a bibliography entry is deleted with change recording enabled, the formatted bibliography retains ghosts of the departed reference. The behaviour depends on whether changes are being shown or not, but neither behaviour matches what I would expect. If changes are being shown, the reference appears in the bibliography even though it has been deleted. The redlined bibliography entry reference is also appropriately formatted. It is as if the reference has not been deleted. If changes are not being shown, the reference does not appear in the bibliography section, but it nonetheless affects numbering of references. The behaviour that I would expect is that redlined references have no effect on the bibliography at all-- they should not appear in the bibliography and should not affect the numbering of other elements. An alternative that would also make sense would be for redlined references to appear in the bibliography as redlined text, but still not affect the numbering of other elements. This latter behaviour would allow multiple people working on a document to see the reference which had previously been a part of the document without affecting the final output. The workaround is to accept changes regarding deletion of bibliography entry references.
Created attachment 27287 [details] contains two references, one of which has been redlined
I forgot to mention in the initial report: I noticed this initially in OOo 1.1.4 (debian package 1.1.4-3), but I checked and the same thing happens in 1.9.104 for Windows.
Reassigned to ES.
ES->requirements: indeed, the current behavior is a little bit confusing: Please decide if we should: 1) hide a) automatically or b) after manual update, the biblio table when a reference has been deleted in the text 2) redline the biblio table a) automatically or b) after manual update, when a reference has been deleted in the text.
