I recently installed Openoffice 1.0. I have Python 2.2.1 and win32all 146 also on my PC.

I now 
notice that if the Openoffice Quickstarter is running, PythonWin does not start up properly. The 
process appears in the process list, but the GUI does not appear. If I exit the Openoffice 
Quickstarter, the GUI then appears immediately.

I contacted the maintainer for PythonWin, 
who suggested that the problem is caused by Openoffice not processing (DDE) messages 
correctly.

I am passing on this information, as I do not have a good feel for whether 
Openoffice or PythonWin is causing the problem. However PythonWin did not exhibit this 
behaviour prior to the Openoffice installation.

Further to the DDE problem, I have found another application that 
does not start correctly while Openoffice Quickstarter is running.

I use NAI Enterprise SecureCast to push anti-virus software updates 
to my PC. The SecureCast application communicates with a web browser 
using DDE, and this DDE conversation is also broken when Quickstarter 
is running. I think this more or less proves that the problem lies 
with Quickstarter.

I can't reproduce with OOo1.0.1: Quickstarter is running and python
2.2.2 is starting.
