I am a long term word perfect user, and I do like a lot of the Open Office
features. But the special character selection is lacking. To any one writing
scientific work, you need good special characters, such as greek letters,
percents, degrees symbolss. In Wp theres a global hotkey, and it has a wide
selection of these symbols scientific, mathematic, greek etc. and allows you to
type in the name of the character 5,23 (etc for list 5, character 23) which is
a VERY handy tool to someone using a lot of characters, in Open office the
special characters need a lot of work for writing these type of documents. This
could easily be added to the right click menu (which also needs the highlight
feature added to it). Overall i'm impressed with Open Office, I just need the
special characters. (see picture of corel menu)
