Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 47478
PDFs can not be combined cause of subsetted fonts
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the attached MSWord-Docs with Ooo 2. Export them to PDF without saving to ODT 3. Open the first PDF with Adobe Acrobat (5.0) 4. Try to insert the second PDF (Document\Insert Pages) 5. Get an error message "These documents contain subset fonts that have the same name and cannot be merged" If the documents are saved in ODT-Format before exporting, the PDFs are mergeable.

Confirmed.
Pure luck if they can be merged after saving. This is just not what font subsets are good for. I suggest inserting a page in the doc file and then saving as PDF. PDF is not really a format meant to be changed after production anyway.
I've tested now with 2.0.3RC3 and Acrobat 7.0 -> Worksforme! I enclose a new PDF from the first doc, if somebody is interested.
