Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 47203
Improve the navigation through Impress slides
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:06:14 UTC
At the moment the method of navigating through a presentation is counter-intuitive. I would have expected to have methods similar to MSOffice to browse through the slides, for example: - having it natively in, or the ability to switch to, a continuous mode where the scroll bar to the right of the main window allows one to scroll through the whole presentation and not just the current slide The other way in which this problem could be addressed will be put in a separate issue/request to keep it one per issue.
The additional suggestion on this issue is posted on: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=47204 Feel free to dupe either.
Reassigned.

I think that this enhancement has already been implemented but is not seen because of a defect When the zoom slider at the bottom of the page to some value depending of the side of the impress window the right side scrollbar stands for how far trough the presentation you are and moving it or turning the mouse wheel will change the slide. I have recreated this but an a late 2008 Macbook pro 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 Duo 2GB ram In mac open office 3.3 and 3.4b Compared to Microsoft office 2008 mac To recreate Open a new presentation Create 2 or more slides with different titles Adjust the zoom slider in the bottom right corner to all the way to the negative (left hand side) Move the mouse into the section for tying words into slides. Move the mouse wheel What to see The slide window though small will switch between different slides Note if the zoom is adjusted and a new slide is added the slide bar will disappear until the zoom is adjusted this may be an unrelated bug. Possible causes There are two vertical lines on the zoom bar one for 100% zoom and the other seems to be the zoom that the entire panel is visible and is the default location for the zoom bar, (in Microsoft power point the default is 100) I believe that the scroll bar was meant to change based on if the zoom was greater than the optimal zoom and for some reason the threshold for when the right scroll bar switches between pan and scroll is normally a value halfway between the optimal zoom and 5% zoom witch is the lowest
