Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44213
"copy function" mouse sequence interpreted as "fill series"
Last modified: 2006-08-25 00:11:14 UTC
I'm attempting to copy a formula that I've already entered in one cell into several other adjacent cells by following the short-cut directions listed on the help page: 1) Select cell containing formula 2) Position mouse in lower-right until pointer turns into a cross-hair 3) With (left) mouse button pressed, drag mouse down or to the right over the cells where the formula should be copied 4) Release mouse and the formula will be copied. When I release the mouse it is consistantly bringing up the dialogue box for filling the cells with a linear, growth or date series instead.
Hi, this sounds like a version from Debian or Redhat. There do you get this version from ? Could not reproduce using the version from the OOo website. Frank
That was it: it was from the Fedora 3 distro. Downloading the 1.1.4 version from here works as expected. (why on earth would they change something like that?)
Hi, don't know. ;-) Closing as worksforme. Frank

This "Bug" still exists in official Redhat and Fedora builds (tested with 2.0.2 on Fedora Core 5). All automatic "fill series" functionality is removed from Fedora builds of Openoffice.org, as part of a "scrub[s] [of] its code for intellectual property issues" for 1.1.2 in March of 2005. See comments under Redhat Bug 146883 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=146883
Ahh nuts. My previous comment was supposed to go on Issue 44213. So sorry.
Ok, so it DID go on 44213. Twice. Grr. Double sorry; Either I or Issuezilla got very very confused here.
