Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 43595
Please complete implementation of OOo 2 GUI in OOo 3.0
Last modified: 2013-02-07 21:49:41 UTC
Please have a look at the atatched screenshot. Why has the Tasks window such another (more modern looking) style and a X-button if docked, while Navigator and Stylist still have these old style and no X-button if docked??? I think this new style could be adopted also for Navigator and Stylist. (please also have a look at issue 43594 and issue 43579)

.
Will be done after OOo 2.0.

Please have a look at the attached screenshot. The windows (the color selectors and so on) should look like the undocked toolbar. With "look like" I mean the gray bar of the toolbar. In MS Office for example the color selectors have such look if undocked. The new GUI has been introduced with SO8 (OOo 2.0). So In my opinion it should be completed in OOo 2.x. So please target this issue to OOo 2.x. Thanks. Could someone please adjust the comment of this issue, since not only "Stylist and Navigator" are affected?

I suggest "Complete implementation of OOo 2.x GUI" as summary for this issue. Could please someone change this, I don't have the permission.
(I was able to correct the summary.)

Hi Frank: ssa says: "Will be done after OOo 2.0." So could we please set a OOo 2.x target for this issue?
Ok, retargeted but don't expect it soon. There are other things with higher Priority. Frank
Issue http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=53984 seems to be related (more general RFE).

set target milestone according to http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Target_3x
I think it is time now to completely introduce the OOo 2 GUI for OOo 3! I also found that some dropdowns have old style. I have attached a screenshot.

> I think it is time now to completely introduce the OOo 2 GUI for OOo 3! Now, it isn't. Feature freeze for 3.0 is over (see http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOoRelease30), which means that changes as this won't be implemented anymore - as much as one might regret this. > I also found that some dropdowns have old style. I have attached a > screenshot. This is a perfect opportunity to point to http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html#one_per_issue ... Please do not misunderstand me: I am all in for fixing this issue. However, just saying "it's time" and targeting it does neither mean we have resources for it, nor can we bypass our rule set, which is there for good reasons.
Hi Frank, thanks for your response on this issue. > Please do not misunderstand me: ... I don't. I see your point. And I understand the resource problem as big disadvantage of open source software. Nevertheless, OOo's and so SO's GUI, too is a horrible mix of old and new style elements. > ...#one_per_issue Do you want me to file a separate issue for each old-style GUI element? IMHO, this is one task.
> Do you want me to file a separate issue for each old-style GUI element? > IMHO, this is one task. Okay, this is debatable. I just saw the original request was about stylist and navigator, where your latest screenshot is about other floaters. However, you might be right and this is all the same problem. Resetting target (this is something I wanted to do with yesterday's change, but somehow forgot)
Fixing this issue would also fix issue 10864 since the new-style drop-downs are sticky (for example the Drawing toolbar).
The hyperlink bar is old-stale, too. It cannot be undocked. (Therefor already a seperate issue is already filed: issue 28739)
old-stale -> old-style
reassigning to FS
cd: Take over. This issue needs additional work on the framework and vcl part. Therefore fs is not right owner for this "ENHANCEMENT".
The Formula bar is old-style, too. It cannot be undocked (like the Hyperlink bar).
