Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 43009
"Fill ..." commands labeled unclear in customization dialog
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
Under OOo 1.1.x, one can customize shortcut keys Ctrl-D and Ctrl-R to be Fill Down and Fill Right, respectively. For new users switching from MS Office to OOo, especially those who use as many shortcut keys as possible, the fill down/right shortcut keys are much more useful than the defaults - which currently cannot be altered (680m77).
I now find that the Fill... submenu commands (Down, Right, Up, Left, Sheet, Series) can be customized under the Edit function category. However, I believe most new users would be as confused as I was - expecting to see Fill Down, Fill Right, etc.
Hi, you can do the very same things with OOo1.9.x, so I close this as worksforme. Frank

I can confirm that the labeling of the "Fill ... " commands, e.g. "Fill down" is very unlucky in the customization dialog for the keyboard shortkeys. In the "Edit" category, there are just entries reading "Down", "Up", "Right" and so on. Nobody will know what action they refer to, especially since there is no action as f.e. "Edit down". I've adjusted the summary to clearer reflect the problem (and corrected some other fields).
