Description drc 2004-11-27 07:47:25 UTC
Make a rounded rectangle. Put text in it. Highlight the text.

Using the toolbar buttons:

Make it bold - good :)
Make it italic - good :)
Colour it - good :)
Select align left - nothing.. :(
Select align right - nothing.. :(

Deselect the obect - last alignment prevails. %)
Reselect the text in the obect - it stays in the correct place. :)
Select align left - it centres :(
Deselect - last alignment prevails.

Thanks for all the fabulous facilities this version has for me to test and
enjoy. It is almost embarrassing to point this out.
Issue 7572 is still open - be proud of your progress!

Changed to defect.
Reassigned to Christian.

This is not a bug because it's our defaults.
I think we should change this defaults i.e. we should select 'Full Width' in the
text settings of the rectangle and the ellipse.
With changing the defaults we have the same behaviour as PPT.
Please have a look.

My vote is not to change the default to full width - it is really tacky when you
are first typing, and I for one hate it. It also disguises the left - right
ustification settings, and that is horribly user hostile. I would prefer it to
do what a simple typewriter would do - until it is told different. So let the
text be its natural size, starting at the left until told otherwise, and
responsive to the alignment buttons - please..
And if I want to fiddle with its aspect ratios I will tell it so.

The issue is valid. But I see no chance that we can fix this for OO.o, but I put
on the agenda for OO.o 3.0.
