When I select a menu (e.g. "File") from the menubar, the menu pops up, but it
disappears as soon as I move the mouse over it.

Reporter, are you using Gnome with Sawfish?  If so, is your focus
policy set to focus-follows-mouse?

This looks like a dup of 3548, 2943, 2691 (& 2786)

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.
