When I attempt to save a file in DocBook format, I do not get the "DocBook" 
option in the "Save as type" drop-down list. 

What to do?

Please install the latest and greatest OOo version which is the 1.1.3 and use
the 'custom' and not the 'standard' type of installation. There you have to
select the SAMPLE FILTER for installation.
