Description swisher 2004-07-27 23:22:12 UTC
I have a Word .doc file with a drawing created using Word's built-in drawing
tools. The (automatically created) drawing canvas is defined to use "in line
with text" wrapping (the default), and is located at the beginning of a
paragraph.

When I import this file into Writer, the drawing appears as a grouped object,
with wrapping set to "Wrap Through", giving a very different appearance from
Word. To reproduce the Word appearance, I have to do the following:

1. Set the Anchor to "As Character". This places the drawing anchor at the end
of the paragraph.

2. Cut and paste the drawing to the beginning of the paragraph.

3. Set the Alignment to "Top".

The import should make these adjustments, so I don't have to do this fix-up
process. It appears (although I haven't explored extensively) that OOo imports
all drawing objects as "Wrap Through", regardless of their original wrapping
style. It should attempt to approximate the original wrapping style in its own
terms.

I found a few issues that appear to be related to this one, but not the same:

Originally this has been changed/fixed by issue 17086. And it works correctly
with OO 2.0 build 680m38.
MRU->MM: in 680m47 the "Canvas" objects are again anchored "to character". These
"inline" objects from WW should be anchored "As character" after import.
Comment 3 swisher 2004-07-28 19:04:43 UTC
Issue 17086 addresses the anchoring part. It looks like issue 3958 (fixed)
addresses the wrapping part.

vyho->swisher: both of your listed issues are already fixed/closed. However,
with the build 1.9.m62 (680_m62), I still see this problem with drawing going
off to a wrong place. Please double check this proble, and I can provide
further test document if needed. Thanks.

If it's not fixed in time for OOo2.0, it should be fixed for OOo2.1.
Comment 10 watersrw 2005-01-19 12:01:39 UTC
The issue still exists in M71 - see page 11 at
http://www.lancs.ac.uk/ug/blaney/fyp.doc
for example (1.7MB file).

This has been fixed together with issue 43716 in CWS swqbugfixes17. It will be
integrated into product by 680m87 or m88.
Comment 15 michael.ruess 2005-03-16 09:16:28 UTC
Set to fixed.
Comment 16 michael.ruess 2005-03-16 09:16:55 UTC
Closing issue, fix will be available soon.
Comment 17 vyho 2005-03-22 20:20:45 UTC
I just test the ErrorDemo.doc file with build m87 and it still fails to show the
doc properly. I am not sure if the fix is in 87 or 88. Please check and reopen
the bug if needed.

I tested the latest release and it seems to work very well. This is great.
Thank you all the developers involved in this.
