Description ooomod 2004-07-08 19:43:47 UTC
Hello Louis,

Vlad Maschkoff who had earlier submitted his proposal to create the Ukrainian
Native-Lang project has signed the JCA and registered himself.
username: adiel
domain name: "ua"
for more info, check www.openoffice.org.ua That's his community.

Thank you,

Charles.
Comment 1 lsuarezpotts 2004-07-08 21:54:20 UTC
adding adiel.

Adiel, can you let me know where you are with your project? Before I create the OOo site, I would like
to know how many your project includes and what they are doing. Also, how would you use the project?

It doesn't have to be a very formal update; I just want to be sure that there is a cadre of people to get
this project working.

thanks
louis

Sorry it's taken so long, I've been busy creating community and studing
technical questions.

Current situation:
- Ukrainian build of OpenOffice.org 1.x done (together with ru.openoffice.org)
- created and supporintg the place where users can get noncommercial support (a
forum, http://openoffice.org.ua/modules.php?op=modload&name=PNphpBB2&file=index)
- created and performed free lections on OpenOffice.org
(http://www.linux.kiev.ua/adiel/articles/OfficeAutomation/img0.html)
- created local community of people who will participate in translation
of the interface and help of OpenOffice.org 2.x
- performed the first OpenOffice.org developers meeting, the works plan is done
(http://gallery.osdn.org.ua/20041023-OOo)
- teamed up with Infra-resource.ru and ru.openoffice.org on
translation of OpenOffice.org 2.x
- researched questions to create commercial support for OpenOffice.org users
(with EMT company http://emt.com.ua)
- started discussion of ОЕМ installation of OpenOffice.org by some PC suppliers
in Ukraine (with EMT)
- initiated discussion of OOo promotion in Ukraine with Infra-resource.ru
- the proposed logo of Ukranian OpenOffice.org is developed
(http://www.linux.kiev.ua/adiel/ooo/2.0-trans/logo/proposal/var1.png)

Thus I consider this to be enough for successful start of OOo 2.x
translation project. I am sure that this summer will see Ukrainian build of
OpenOffice.org branch 2 ready.

I'll put every effort in to promote OpenOffice.org in my country.

I'm ready to start!

+1 for Ukrainian Native Language Project
Comment 4 ooomod 2005-03-22 17:56:06 UTC
Hello Adiel/Vlad,

I'm very happy to see you back and done with your problems.
I am in favor of this project too, nonetheless I think you should post an
updated proposal on dev@native-lang.openoffice.org. Besides, I think that given
the present national circumstances in Ukraine, it would be wise to stress
publicly that this project is open to "all the Ukrainians" and promote the use
of the Ukrainian language. Please understand that I don't have any opinion on
all this but I had complaints from people when you had proposed the creation of
an Ukrainian Native-Lang project at first.

Best regards and see you soon on the lists,

Charles.
Comment 5 adiel 2005-03-23 22:26:32 UTC
- Published the invitation by _all_ who wishes to participate (in ukrainian),
look
http://openoffice.org.ua/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=91&mode=thread&order=1&thold=0;
- test translation OpenOffice.org 1.9.86 (for Linux and Windows) done; users are
 informed via openoffice.org.ua;
- initiated discussion of a glossary for Team.

The information is _always_ open and is published for _all_ users on
openoffice.org.ua and it can be seen.

The Ukrainian builds long enough period are done with my participation.

I don't like to deny proofless charges... and it's unpleasant to me that I am
compelled to do it... once again.

I'll be continue to tell about OpenOffice.org, I'll do noncommercial support and
I'll do the Ukrainian builds of OpenOffice.org.
Absence of ua.openoffice.org will slow down this work, but will not stop it.

The updated offer will be sent in dev@native-lang.openoffice.org now.

Hello Wad,
thanks for your input.

Louis, can you set up the Ukrainian native-lang project now (Level 2)?
I think that the present stage of advancement speaks for itself...

Thanks!
Comment 7 ooomod 2005-05-17 16:47:39 UTC
Sorry to insist, but I guess it's time to set up this project now...

Thanks!
Comment 8 adiel 2005-05-17 19:15:44 UTC
I shall be engaged in translation ООо independend of UA-NLC.
UA NLC It is absence will help me will not slow down work
Comment 9 lsuarezpotts 2005-05-17 19:25:38 UTC
adiel:

this means you do not want the UA project at the moment? It can be a level 1: just localization/translation.

Comment 10 adiel 2005-05-18 09:20:57 UTC
I want it too!

<written by a colleague>
Maybe there was some misunderstanding of adiel's English or so, BUT let me
acknowledge that he *is* _for_ UA NL OOo project. And AFAIK he does the most of
all people I know for that right now.

So please drop any doubts on that matter. :-)

Hope that this whole issue will be resolved in a timely and collaborative manner
since our fellow translators and public at large are worrying for
ua.openoffice.org _absence_. Needless to say we're worrying too. :-)

Hello,

I have talked on the IRC with Wad/Adiel yesterday and I think I see where this
misunderstanding comes from.
Adiel told he would soon be away because his company is supposed to migrate some
customers to OOo.
But I think it's all right to set up the project's page now.

If you are interested in translating Apache OpenOffice you should send a note to L10n@openoffice.apache.org. We can then get you the latest Pootle files.
