I think I discovered what may be a bug in the way OpenOffice works in 
relation to the KDE window manager. I discovered that if I created a 
child panel to the standard KDE "kicker" panel, and placed that panel 
on the left side of the screen, OpenOffice will not install, or once 
it is installed it will no longer work. The result is a segmentation 
fault. This also happens when running or installing StarOffice 6.0 
beta.

Yes, it's a known issue and fixed in the next OOo version.
