Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29312
Make adding alternate slide designs to presentation easier
Last modified: 2014-04-29 14:56:10 UTC
Suppose that you want to organise the look of slides in your presentation (e.g. different sets of background image and boxes layout) by creating multiple slide designs to choose for your slides (typically it would be 3 designs: for Title slides, lower level sub-title slides and default design for ordinary slides). There's currently no easy way to copy slide desings inside your presentation or create new, blank ones. This currently forces the user to go through a complicated and hard to discover procedure: 1. Go to Format->Styles->"Slide Design...". 2. Click the "Load..." button. 3. Choose one of pre-defined slide designs 4. Click "OK" in "Load Slide Design" dialog 5. Click "OK" in "Slide Design" dialog, applying newly loaded slide design to current slide (otherwise the slide design will be dropped from the presentation!) 6. Switch to "Master View" (select "View"->"Master"->"Drawing") and customise a slide design. Proposed solution: 1. In "Slide Design" dialog, implement "New...", "Copy...", "Delete..." buttons. After implementing the "Delete..." button, make Impress not delete unused slide designs from the presentation (possibly with a warning dialog for the user when he saves a presentation with unused slide designs - "You have unused slide designs in your presentation. Do you want to delete them?"; "Yes", "No", "Open 'Slide Design' manager"). 2. When in "Master View" (select "View"->"Master"->"Drawing"), the slide tabs area (at the bottom of the window) shows slide designs as separate tabs. With analogy to the standard "Slide View", right clicking on those tabs should offer "Insert Slide Design...", "Copy Slide Design...", "Delete Slide Design..." commands.
