Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2913
Single table cell cannot span multiple pages (text is truncated)
Last modified: 2003-10-15 09:13:45 UTC
OpenOffice build: 641C Reproducible: always Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new empty text document 2. Insert a table consisting of one cell 3. In the cell, type "Blah" and press Enter 4. Select the paragraph you just typed in, copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl-C) 5. Start pasting the paragraph (Ctrl-V) multiple times, continue until the cell expand down to the botoom of the page. 6. Continue pasting the paragraph and observe, as the pasted content overflows beyond bottom page margin (where it is no longer displayed) Expected behaviour: The first paragraph that can't fit on the current page is placed on the next page (as the continuation of the current cell). This issue has a quite high importance, because it occurs very frequently, especially when dealing with documents extracted from webpages or imported from MS Word and other word processors. It also exhibits itself when printing/print previewing HTML documents (that is, when they are paginated). I've also reproduced it in StarOffice 6.0 beta, so it has been here for some time.
I also just verified that this issue exists on Windows. Changing OS to All.
JA->FT: reassigned as feature enhancement if a new table concept will be integrated into writer application
This is one of those issues that has been filed quite a few times. And I agree. but since this is part of an oncoming complete redesign of tables in Writer (which will take at least 2 years from now!), I will resolve this issue as LATER).
Reopening to mark as duplicate of issue #4746 (which would be the correct action).
