Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2911
Better screen font
Last modified: 2003-03-11 18:14:02 UTC
Can we use a beter font for OpenOffice? The fonts look very ugly, for example, the fonts in the menus, and in the style list, etc... We need to move to a more appealing font. What do you think?
Joost->Falco: not a bug but a feature enhancement of OpenOffice.org. Reassigned to you
select yourself one: Tools - Options - Font Replacement. Choose the font you want!
Falco Tesch: Can you suggest some fonts to try? The only one i know is NOT relevant is Thorndale, the mysterious default font that isn't even included in a default installation of OO 641C. Since OO render all scaleable fonts as smooth as barbed wire, it's a hard task for a user to know what to alias to what: Firstly: The only fonts displaying in the font replacement list are the scalable ones, so any combination will turn out looking equally ugly. Secondly: Which font is used in the UI in the first place? Which font am I trying to replace?
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
