Description plester 2004-04-21 06:18:22 UTC
When I click on the 3D Objects and 3D Controller icons all or part of the pane
is blacked out. This happens in both the Draw module and the Presentation
module.

3D Objects:
When I
1. click on the 3D Objects icon,
2. Select a shape
3. Drag the shape in the edit pane, forming the wire frame, and
4. Release the mouse button,

The entire edit pane turns black. The refresh behavior after this becomes
erratic:
1. moving the cursor around the screen shows mouserover tip text; after the
text clears you can see part of the UI graphics in the rectangle left by the
cleared tip text box.
2.changing, moving or rotating the shape causes the orginal image to remain
with the new image laid over top.
3.If you display an other program that completely refreshes the screen and then
return to the draw or presentation module, the problem is sometimes corrected
(i.e., the UI refreshes properly until you manipulate the 3D object, which
causes the screen or pain to black out again, sometimes displaying the 3D
object, and sometimes not, depending on which module you are in.
4.Moving the cursor over where menus used to be and clicking will cause the
icon images to refresh and display, and the function is activated though it may
not be possible to see any results of the activation.
5.The screen does not even refresh properly when you undo the operation.

3D Controller
Essentially the same thing happens when 3D Controller is used except only the
Controller pane is blacked out.

This sounds a bit like a problem with OpenGL. Does the behaviour still occur
when you switch off Tools/options/OPenoffice.org/view/3dview/UseOpenGL? If so
then it is not the problem of the office but of a badly programmed openGL driver
of your graphic card.
Thanks for your help.

I did as suggested. Switching off UseOpenGL stopped the panes from being
blacked out.

3D graphics now appear to be rendered correctly in the prsentation module.
However, in the drawing module, only the control handles are displayed. I
tried various settings and tools to get the product to diplay the 3D image but
to no avail.

Given that the behaviour does not still occur, I will attach a document with a
series of annotated screenshots. Hope it helps.

Thanks for your quick response.

I'm sorry. In my previous comment I said that the draw module was not
rendering the graphics properly and that I would send you an attachment showing
this as well as the previous behaviour before switching off UseOpenGL. But
when I went to reproduce the problem I found that there was no problem an any
module; graphics are being rendered correctly and there is no blacking out of
the panes.

So, I will provide an attachment as promised but the screen shots will only
show the behaviour with UseOpenGL switched on since it was implied that if the
behaviour changed after switch off UseOpenGL then the problem lies with
OpenOffice.

Thanks
PL

Sorry it this turns out to be a waste your time.

Sorry, but i did not say the problem lies within Openoffice if the problem does
not occur anymore with OpenGL switched off. It is the fault of the graphic card
driver. Please try to install another driver.
So I will close this issue as works for me because everything works as it
should. Thanks for your help.
