Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22698
A moved directory causes Open Office to not be able to change directories
Last modified: 2014-02-19 12:27:16 UTC
Say that a directory is mount on a server via mount //server/douglas /home/douglas/work ....rw etc Now set default document directory to /home/douglas/work All is fine! Now umount the directory and delete it. Start up OpenOffice 1.1 Open a document. You will get two error messages saying the directory does not exist. But it will display a dialog box with the directory and nothing in it. Click up, because up( the directory above) exists, nothing happens. Now physically type the directory in the file name input, you can go there. The up directory should work or the dialog box should not open in a non-existing directory cheers dn
Hi Douglas, spreadsheet is the wrong component. I've changed it to framework as it seems to affect all applications. Frank
TM->BH: Please have a look. I changed this one from defect to enhancement. The dialog box shows the path which is set to the default directory (/tools/options/paths/...) no matter if this path has been deleted physically before. Using the "UP" button is useless, because the current directory doesn´t exist.
I am not sure how this is a feature. If I were a normal user I might become frustrated and cranky. Perhaps the best thing to do is just go somewhere that does exist if the directory does not exist. On the other hand maybe most users do not go around deleting directories, but I rather think that is not so unusual. dn
Douglas, i can just agree with you, that this has to be classified not as a minor glitch or 'hidden feature', but as a bug, because the behaviour doesn't follow in any way what users can expect today from user-friendly programs. As however TM wrote 'TM->BH: Please have a look.', and BH indeed still had no chance to have a look at it, the reason for your issue still being considered as Enhancement is most probably just the time factor. Ladyies and gentlemen, this really is a bug, for sure :-)
