Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2258
Closing a document exits the app.
Last modified: 2002-01-21 14:18:39 UTC
This may be a conscious design descision, so I'm sorry if I missed that ! Two frustrations about Open Office. 1) Why when you open the first document via the Open menu option does it open a completely new frame, but if you've opened a document by say double clicking an icon somewhere it doesn't ? You then have a blank frame sitting there doing nothing ! 2) If the document frame is the only frame displayed selecting Close from the file menu exits the app. !!! At this point you might expect a "Do you want to exit" prompt or the good old blank frame. Considering that Open Office is not exactly speedy under Linux this can get very tedious !
Reassigned to Thorsten.
1.) Wasn`t reproducible when using an internal 641c, which (or maybe a later version) will be the next available OO-version. Double-clicking on an icon opens the document in a new task and opening a file via the file-open dialog opens the document also in a new task. When opening a new document via file/new from an empty document, this document is replaced by the new one. If the document has already been modified (just enter a single character), the new file is opened in a new task. This is the so wanted file-open behaviour. 2.) Due to the fact, that staroffice/openoffice - documents each are now single tasks, closing the last task just closes the office ! The missing warning-message now (in a 641xx) appears !
Due to missing any further information and the fact, that this issue worksforme, it is closed !
