Description Unknown 2001-11-11 10:56:55 UTC
During launch of Openoffice a square banner window appears in the middle of
the screen, which can neither be moved, iconified or otherwise clicked away.
Moreover, it is sticky and thus "follows" even when switching to a different
desktop pane. The banner window stays during the complete (lengthy) startup
process, and makes it difficult to temporarily switch to something else while
waiting for OpenOffice to start up.
I am aware that many commercial software use similar banner windows having the
same problem. Here is an opportunity to make your product better than those
others ;-) If marketing insist on keeping that banner, please at least add a
way to make it disappear (such as: user clicks on it => goes away), or have it
obey the normal window manager actions (user can move it to a more convenient
spot using alt+left_mouse button...)

Please have a look at issue 1585, there are hints how to speed up start-up performance on Linux.

Reassigned to Falko.
