The crop feature right now is ugly.
I suggest that one can crop out any shape of any other shape, whitout changing
_any_ functionality in OO.

Actually these steps could be made with star basic (if I knew how to program, or
ooDraw could record macros)

I have made a drawing which shows all necessary steps to crop any shape out of
any other without using any other than Draws given features. (see attached file)

(This occured to me when discussing issue:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=19593)

There are two things to mention:
1) If the step in slide 5 (conversion to bitmap) was not necessary, then the
feature would gain much more power, as the underlying image was still of type
shape instead of type bitmap (see suggestion of a new feature called "view" in
issue 19593)

2) there may be a small bug (size) in the "convert to bitmap" funcitonality, as
the resulting bitmap has white borders - but that may also be my fault, the
important thing is that a cropping utility can be made available without
programming any functionality

I hope I am not wrong...

Sorry,

I am very, very tired...

Of course the point I am trying to make is:
All the functionality is there! The OOpeople only have to repack it and possibly do
something about the "convert to bitmap" bug (?) that shows an additional line at
the bottom and to the right of the converted image.

Of course it's also a feature request and not a defect

And if someone will point me to the right direction, then I will try to write a
macro for this myself and contribute it...

I use the cropping feature quite often to cut screenshots for presentations and
images from the internet that I want to include in a presentation (maybe that's
why I am so obsessed with this functionality?)
