Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1865
Pasting row selection into column lockup
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:45:08 UTC
I haven't done testing to see how generically this applies, but the following locks up OO for me: - Open new spreadsheet - Select row 1 by clicking on the row header - Copy, either by shortcut or by menu - Select column 1 by clicking on the column header - Paste, either by shortcut or by menu - OO should now be using 100% cpu Note: It happens regardless of whether there is any data in the selected cells.
Hi, I don't think it's a lockup. Depending on what you copy and paste the action may take a little bit longer because you're pasting the first row into all 32000 rows. (BTW: I cannot reproduce it with zero data) I pass this one to Niklas because it maybe regarded as a performance issue. Regards, Peter
I have tested this bug to see if it was truly a lockup. It is not a lockup, but it does take sometime to complete. Total time on both my Linux and Win2K systems was about 90 seconds.
Most of the time is spent copying the original row's cell formatting to the whole sheet (one row at a time). We need to handle this more efficiently.
This should have target "later".
According to the OpenOffice.org roadmap (http://tools.openoffice.org/releases) this issue was retargeted to OOo Later.
I have seen that the last entry was in September 2003 ... :( Has someone tried to find out if it also occurs in a newer version of OOo? Or could teh original reporter close this issue, please?
Yep, just check 1.1.4, and the described behavior remains. I can still reproduce the problem with no data.

I just did bryceman's procedure on OO 4.0.1. Win7 machine. My results showed an immediate status of "Not Responding" from task manager for both Writer(empty, idle doc) and Calc. In addition, constant 25-30% CPU usage until I terminated the process after about 10 minutes of this behavior.
