Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18097
Default date format in documents not acceptable
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:33:16 UTC
I do not approve of Open Office's default date format. In South Africa we do not use that format. Please pay attention to the date format settings on the computer. A particular frustrating example is entering a date in a table located in a text document. I have to manually change the date format to my satisfactory.
SBA: Reassigned to Bettina from the User Experience team for consideration.
francoisj: What exactly is your current language setting under "Extras / Options / Language Settings / Standard Languages for Documents. Is it "English (South-Africa)" ? And what would be the correct default data format for a "English (South Africa)" Language Setting of the complete document or a single cell in a table ? Is it not MM/DD/YY ?
South Africa's default settings are DD/MM/YYYY or some may use YYYY/MM/DD.
Please refer to http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html for ISO 8601 date format.
