Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17444
Show unnamed objects in navigator
Last modified: 2014-01-05 09:28:23 UTC
Unnamed objects (shapes, circles, beziers, ...) do not appear in navigator until they are named. Unfortunately there is no contextmenu for naming them in calc and writer. Suggestion: Showing unnamed objects in navigator would be great. They could appear there using the indexnumber (rectshape #1, rectshape #2 ...) until they are renamed (at least in draw/impress).

TM->BH: This is a wish for an enhancement, please have a look. Thanks !
very reasonable request IMHO, because the navigator simply is not as helpful as when all of the objects of an OOo file would be displayed in the navigator.
set to "NEW"
set prio P4 -> P3
when thinking more about this issue i personally would give it even a P2
I'm testing 680m62; no change. Is something planned for 2.0? OK, I know, there are more than 2300 enhancement issues ...

Renaming is available in OOo2.3RC1 but not-renamed object (a.k.a unnamed objects") are still not displayed in navigator
Not yet perfect but a really big progress! I've written a small basic makro that names all unnamed shapes for illustration purposes (see att.)

Still there in OOo 3 Beta From OOo1.1.3... Sigh!
To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on my owner to the owner "requirements".

Since OOo 3.x in DRAW we have the selector icon whether only "Named Shapes" or "All Shapes" should be shown in Navigator. But the problem is still unfixed for Writer / Calc, the new option also should be added to Writer and Calc Navigator
