Description prgmgr 2001-09-30 00:51:01 UTC
txtspacing.txt contains text that is formatted in a table structure.

When OpenOffice 638 loads the file, it does not preserve the spacing
correctly. This is reflected in all views, the page preview mode as well as a
hardcopy printout.

Notepad, Write, MS Word 2000 and Gvim all preserve the spacing correctly.

txtspacing.txt is an Unix format file. I tried loading the file using all the
available text file formats.

Just to isolate the issue from the format of the file, I created a file called
table.txt that contained text in a table structure in Notepad. OpenOffice also
did not preserve the formatting correctly. The other reference programs (
Gvim, MS Word, etc ) did not have the same issue.

Ooo uses "Thorndale" (non propotional font) as default font. Wordpad and Word the same font (for instance Arial) which mean the spaces will have the same size when formatted with the same (or an other but proportional font).
Simply format your text in "Courrier" or an other proportional font after import.
