Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17040
Text attributes should be kept between creation of text frames
Last modified: 2019-02-03 07:15:01 UTC
Whenever one inserts a new text frame, all text parameters are reset to the application default. that means that at EACH typing, one have to re-select at least the font, font-size, font-colors. That is painfull if, for instance, all you are doing is putting together some images, and adding a label to them. Please---do not underestimate it. I mean it's PAINFULL - and it should not be hard to change this behaviour. I am comitted to help other O.S. projects, or I'd try to fix this myself. I just need this enhancement to be able to actually work using OO.
Does not Frame Contents control this behavior? I have noticed however, that it does not seem possible to have a custom frame contents that will apply automatically.
Reassigned to Bettina.

Successfully replicated the bug on Apache OpenOffice 4.2.0 Writer in Windows 10.
Replication steps: Step 1: Open OpenOffice Writer and change the size, font and color (example: Vivaldi, size-16, color-red)of text and start typing on the text field. Step 2: Go up to Insert -> Header -> Default Step 3: Add text to the header. Result: The font automatically goes back to its default settings (Times New Roman, size-12, color-black) in the header.
Significance: While typing, most customers want to focus and go about adding text smoothly, without changing the format of the text. Automatic reset of the text format to default settings might be tedious for customers, especially if they are trying to focus or have a lot to type. As the text format resets itself, the customers might feel distracted from typing since they must configure the text settings frequently. This might lead to frustration and abandonment of the product.
setting to confirmed based on the test of Prachi Miyan
