Set up a database with at least 3 columns. With Data>Filter>Autofilter do a
select on one of the columns, to reduce the number of rows shown. Next, add a
"standard"
("custom" in Excel) filter to, say, display only rows with a field value greater
than some cutoff. When the standard filter is applied, the autofilter defined
before is lost (all the rows are available for the standard filter). You can
redefine the autofilter now and it will work, further reducing the number of
rows displayed. However, its behavior should not be sequence-dependent
(standard, then autofilter works OK, but autofilter, then standard, doesn't).

This feature is considered for OO.o later.

I suposse that is the same problem (view attached file):
If you have a spreedsheet with a filter over it (A4:E10), and use the standard
filter, the autofilter autocalc self, so is impossible apply the filter to
column of "Final Points" (C4:C10) in my example.

Thanks you to allbody. A great work is done with OpenOffice.org.

enhanced summary, set keywords and reassigned issue according to RFE process

The dialogs in Excel and Calc for applying the custom/standard filter look
slightly different, but this should not be a serious issue. In Excel on selects
the custom filter from the autofilter arrows/drop down lists. In OpenOffice.org
one can either choose a standard filter from the autofilter arrows/drop down
list or the "Data - Filter" menue. However, the OpenOffice.org standard filter
dialog includes the current autofilter settings in the dialog, so that setting a
standard filter only overrides the autofilter if someone explicitly changes the
autofilter settings in the standard filter dialog.
