Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1608
File Open creates new instances of application unnecessarily
Last modified: 2003-03-11 18:02:42 UTC
When doing a File Open, Build 638 creates a new window to open the document in. I don't think this should always happen. For example, if I start the word processor with no document (i.e. unedited and untitled), and then do File Open to open an existing word processor document, the file I opened will appear in a new window, and you are left with an extra window with nothing in it. What shopuld happen, IMO, is that either the file is loaded into the current window (i.e. Insert File) or the old window closes. Now, if I am in word processor and I File Open a spreadsheet for example, this SHOULD open in a separate window. Or, if I am in word processor and I have typed something (i.e. perhaps untitled but edited), then File Open on another word processor file should open a new word processor window.
TM->FT: Not a bug but a wish for a change in the behaviour of handling new or opened documents. So, seems to be your turn !
