Description Martin Hollmichel 2003-04-07 17:35:45 UTC
I got several complains from collueges which reports an error message like this:
cvs [tag aborted]: unrecognized auth response from
so-cvs-tunnel.germany.sun.com: cvs pserver: Invalid reply from auth server
(19043 ) looking for (mhu)

It works, if the command will be repeated. Do we have an performance problem on
cvs.openoffice.org ?
Comment 1 Unknown 2003-04-07 17:59:52 UTC
Martin could you attach a verbose copy of the tunnel attempt and the
cvs command and output in separate attachments please? Thanks.
In the meantime I will research the cvs server issue by attempting
some cvs tasks.

so-cvs-tunnel is our ssh endpoint to cvs.openoffice.org. there are no
messages for this behaviour.

also on the client side there is not much to add:

cvs tag -F tagname -r <somerev> <filename>
produces the output above. I don't know what other output I could
provide? The only meaningful output I would expect on the server log,
collab has access to.
Comment 3 Martin Hollmichel 2003-04-07 18:36:24 UTC
also there are now many reports about "waiting for tigrisc lock" in
many directories. waiting for such a lock for more than 30 minutes in
a directory with file < 5 (e.g. /framework/desktop/util) is not what
we expect.
Comment 4 Unknown 2003-04-07 22:10:34 UTC
the operations group could not find any stale locks in the repository
and I didn't encounter any problems while testing cvs, although it was
a bit slower. Ops did mention that there has been more traffic after a
recent slashdot.org article. I'll keep an eye on this and do some more
testing tomorrow to see if there's a difference in performance.
Comment 5 lsuarezpotts 2003-04-08 17:28:02 UTC
Have asked Ops to staticize the sdk pages, if they are not already so.
have also added jsulski to cc list for pcn issue for further dealing
if necessary on thursday.
thanks
