I tried to add a video in an openoffice writer page, but I had format issue, and I wondered if integrating VLC in the OpenOffice could be a great idea ?! We are in the multimedia era so watching a video in a writer document must be easy nowadays.

If vlc is not directly integreted in openoffice, at least we should be able to record a video in the writer document that opens with vlc as an external pattern, if VLC is installed on the PC.

thank you to support this idea.

Impossible because the GPL license is incompatible with that of OpenOffice (AL v2).

What about the second part (opening VLC externally)?
This could be discussed...

What operating system are you using?

OpenOffice can use external CODECS for multimedia file types.

If on Windows, can you please try:
https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

That gave me good results at least for playing audio files.

Is this place is the right? Forum or end users mail list seems to be better.

So, did you direct him to the forums or the mailing lists?
