Created attachment 87016 [details]
Copy of slide presented in slide show (attempt #3)

This is one problem but I've tried importing PDF files into Impress three ways. None satisfactory.

1) Tried Insert - File. Result Error X "The file could not be loaded".

2) Tried Insert - Object - OLE object, followed by Create from file. Result only a small portion of file loaded.

3) Tried Insert - Object - OLE object, followed by Create new. Via "Further objects" I selected Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. and selected page. I was presented by a greatly magnified copy in the AAR window at max setting (details show correctly). On clearing that window the Impress window had a small copy of the page which I had to expand to cover the whole area but when Presented as a slide the text was blurred and the music staves were partially faded out. See attachment.

OpenOffice is not meant as a a PDF reader. The best way to get a PDF file into AOO is with the following extension: https://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/pdf-import-apache-openoffice. This will open it in draw, but the results will depend on the quality of the PDF itself.

Closing as not an issue

I already have that extension.
In my third trial I found the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as the first in the list of Further objects so how can it be that you don't support PDF and fail to state that on screen when trying to use it?

I am not sure I understand the goal.

Do you want to import the Content of the PDF in your file. Or do you want to add the File to the document and then when clicked upon the File is shown (Maybe by an external software)?

I would say that is worth an enhancement of sort, since we do support technically only files we can actually read on file insertion. All other files are default to be read as text, which is confusing.

I have been supplied (by the publisher) PDF copies of pages from a new hymnal. The aim is to incorporate then in a presentation, which will be shared by Zoom to remote attenders.
When I input the file (using the extension aoo-pdf-import-0.1.0-windows-x86) I first get an oversize view of the original page which shows it is not corrupted. When I dismiss it in order to see the entry in AOO (either Draw or Impress) I see that it is corrupted by missing some lines and blurred text. It also does not fill the page so has to be enlarged.
The author of the extension claims it to be 100%, but in case it isn't I tried to contact him but the email address was invalid.
I hope that answers your question.
