if i make a table, and its scrolling down the page, it crashes. it had text, 3 columns and some where colored, not sure if that makes a difference or not. this happened to me years ago too, but i guess it was never fixed.

i use tables in pages that move down as i type things in, and it seems that's when it crashes. 

also i can't update my version, says there is a server error.

Why provide an URL and not a document to reproduce?

This is not an update process but just a ckecking for new version.
Update must be done with downloading and installing by yourself.

this isn't spam, its just how i sign things. 

i don't have an example because the list is either private (bank account info), or the other files is very large.

This is a legitimate bug report against Version 4.1.6. and should not have been RESOLVED NOT_AN_OOO_ISSUE.

Regarding update:
The notification was somehow broken until AOO 4.1.8.
Simply go to https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html and download the most recent version (AOO 4.1.9 atm)
