Description blasen 2020-04-01 09:56:35 UTC
When using find in OO writer, not all footnotes are searched.
I experience this issue even with rather short files (e.g. 20 pages, 95 footnotes), with words that contain no special characters and no upper cases.
Sometimes, it finds the word in one footnote, but not in another.
Ticking „Notes” in „More Options” does not solve this issue: search results are the same.
At the moment, I export .odt files in .pdf and search the files in .pdf, which is quite inconvenient.

Your bug report is being closed as NOT_AN_ISSUE due to a lack of information which is needed in order to accurately reproduce and confirm the problem. We encourage you to retest your bug against the latest release. If the issue is still present in the latest stable release, we need the following information:

a) Provide details of your system including your operating system and the latest version of AOO that you have confirmed the bug to be present

b) Provide a step-by-step procedure to reproduce (the simpler will be the better)

c) Provide any test case(s) which will help us confirm the problem (like a sample document)

d) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

Once all of this is done, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we will attempt to reproduce the issue.

It's hard to believe that this bug report was simply closed.

(a)

Mac OS X 10.11.6

Apache Open Office 4.1.2.

(b)

I open a TextDocument.
I write a text.
I insert footnotes using Insert - Footnote/Endnote - Automatic Footnote.
I have now written a TextDocument of about 20 pages.
I have inserted around 95 footnotes.
In 3 different footnotes, the word x occurs.
Word x is a lower-case word without any special character.

I search for the word x in the footnotes.
I place the cursor in the main text.
I press cmd+F.
I write the word x in the field „Search for”.
I press „Find”.
The message „Search key not found.” turns up or I am showed only 1 or 2 of the 3 occurences of the word x.

I repeat the same procedure.
This time, I tick „Notes” in „More Options” in the Find&Replace box.
The message „Search key not found.” turns up or I am showed only 1 or 2 of the 3 occurences of the word x.

I cannot provide you with a sample as these are official documents.

PLEASE HELP.

It is essential for us, to understand and so, reproduce what you describe.

> Apache Open Office 4.1.2.
This is not our last build. Re-read (a)
