Description greibush 2020-03-25 21:12:30 UTC
Scrolling down generates black bars spanning the width of the page, as if the part of the page just under the bottom - approximately 20-ish pixels, of the screen turns into a black bar which permanently shows over the document while scrolling.

This only happens when the monitor being used to display the document is part of a multi-monitor display, and that specific monitor's resolution does not extend down to the lowest point in the configuration. For example, my setup from left to right is a 1920x1080 monitor, a 1080x1920 monitor in portrait orientation, and a 1920x1080 monitor. This shows up in screenshots as a 4920x1920 area, with the non-displayable areas being black and unoccupied by any content.

Apparently, OpenOffice is unable to handle this kind of display configuration. And no, it's not a sufficient solution for me to change the physical configuration of my desktop computer to match OpenOffice's inability to display content currently.
