Screeshots of the .pdf version and my current AOO rendering.

Before a Windows 10 update of mid-february everything worked fine, but after it AOO is unable to render a docx with Vai characters accurately, instead showing only question marks.

(Vai is: ISO 15924; Unicode range U+A500–U+A63F)

A screenshot don't able to reproduce a problem.
Please provide a sample document.

But for me, this font is missing on your system.
So, this not a bug.

a) the font is available on my system (hot tip: ask instead of make statements).
b) I can't provide the document in it's entirety as it's not cleared for public publishing (so this will have to be put in the "known possible issue, needs testable cases" bin).

But whatever. Issue's closed.

Well, we don't make miracle without informations.

You must anonymize your document. Read this tutorial:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=8289

It is essential for us, to understand and so, reproduce what you describe.

Hmm Looks to me as if AOO tries to read with the wrong encoding.
Can you describe how you open the document?

Does this happen only on this specific document or can you create an own document that has the same issue?

If you feel it is a general issue then please reopen the issue.
Or ask on Forum.openoffice.org if you need help solving this issue.
Please report back if the forum tell you that this is something in OpenOffice to be fixed.

Sorry if this sounds like you have to run around in circles. But you get more people looking at the issue that way.
