Trying to use Base and it tells me I need JRE for it to work. Well, I've installed the latest JRE and it keeps telling me that JRE is not installed, even though it's right there when I try to add it in Options.

You are in wrong place here. This is a bug tracking system and not a help desk.
Remember that JRE must be in 32-bit mode to work with AOO.
