Text overlining not preserved if document saved as .doc. Is preserved in .pdf

Overlining text with MS-Word don't exist directly.
You must use a field code or an equation.

So, you should ask to Microsoft to support this format.

Seems to me that if an OO supported feature is used in a document which is exported to non-OO format like .DOC a warning should be issued alerting the user if that feature is not supported in the saved format.

For example I used overlining to show how Roman numerals were thereby multiplied by 1,000. I naively saved the document in Word and only by luck noticed that the overline disappeared.

You already receive a warning whenever you try to save an OpenOffice in a non-OpenDocument format that it may contain properties that are not supported in the format you specify.

IMHO we lack a technology to be more previse.
