A set of game rules with an index and many headings and sections.

A number of documents become broken when saved. The symptom is when trying to open them again. Writer hangs for a moment and then just shuts down without any information. Once in this state my document can no longer be opened. And writer crashes on every attempt. It also crashes on copies of that document. I have taken to making a back up of documents before working on them, but I have an important one that has become damaged and I have no back up. See attached.

My equipment is a SurfacePro 3.0. with 8GB of RAM.

I have just discovered that the crash only occurs when I open the document by double clicking it. I can open Open Office and then open the document from the menu successfully. I will check to see if the same is true of other documents as the possibility presents itself.

I have also had the same problem with one drawing file.

However, after doing some work the document suddenly crashed.
The document recovered without the most recent work.

The earlier copy I made of the document still crashes apon open. However the newly recovered document does not. Repaired document attached.

I was not able to reproduce this crash.
Your document "The Horror ... Archam.odt" opens fine and I see its 10 pages.

Tested with AOO 4.1.6 under:
- Win7 x64 Pro
- Win10 x64 Pro
- LUbuntu 18.10 x32

Did you open it by double click from the desktop? That is the use case where the problem occurs on my system.
