Whenever I open Writer, there is a General input/output error. Something to do with script. The error comes up twice and then Writer eventually opens.

I see that user account is named as valued%20customer. %20 is URL encoding for a space character.
 
There is a corner case when the Windows login has a special character. The profile is not completely taken into account and some features can be deffective.

Another solution is to reset the user profile.
