attempt to open *.Doc files rec. this error from OpenOff.

Open Office will not open Windows 95 word files: DOC

I am a file examiner for an insurance company.  We use MS Office products at work ... I use Open Office at home.

I can't open *.DOC files at home when attempting to work from home on the net.

I had Tech look at this and they can open with MS Office but, they repeatedly tried looking into my Open Office software and flat stated they can't do anything for me.

I can no longer work from home because I can't find a way for Open office to open *.Doc files .... it opens *.Docx files fine.

Why attach a screenshot and not a sample document?

Note that this format is obsolete since 12/31/2001.

I was not able to reproduce what you described.

1) Create a new document
2) Save with type "Microsoft Word 95 (.doc)"
3) Confirm that keeping this format instead of ODT
3) Close it
4) Open with no problem
