Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 127336
Crash in Writer when splitting tables
Last modified: 2017-03-04 19:20:12 UTC
Writer crashes when splitting tables with "Copy Heading". Steps to reproduce: - Open new Text Document - Insert table with "Table|Insert|Table... - Take the default values and click OK - Select the first two rows - Right click into selection and choose "Split Table" - Take the default values (Copy heading) and click OK Writer crashes The crash does not occur when the table is split without selection by right clicking in the second row and then selecting "Split Table". It does not occur with other settings than "Copy heading"
I forgot: My OS is Ubuntu 16.04.2 (64bit) I can't reproduce it under Windows.
Can't reproduce it under Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with given steps.
Same behaviour with AOO 4.1.4 and German langpack form AOO 4.1.3 independent of the selected UI. AOO414m1(Build:9784) - Rev. 1781705 2017-02-21_12:44:59 - Rev. 1783882 OS: Ubuntu 16.10
This crash is a bug. But you should consider that a writer table can't be split horizontally. And there is this case no message.
It can be split horizontally without problem if you choose the second row... But of course, the question is if the option should even be presented when selecting the first row. So it is kind of logical/technical bug.
(In reply to Matthias Seidel from comment #5) > It can be split horizontally without problem if you choose the second row... Are you sure? Tables side by side? I can't split a table horizontally neither with AOO 4.14. under Ubuntu nor with AOO 4.1.3 under Windows 10. Another behaviour: I select the second row or a higher one -> no split, no crash And after this I select the first row -> no split, no crash It seems that the crash only happens, whnen the first row will beselected at first.
"Table side by side" would be vertical split (in my opinion...) But yes, it seems to occur only when the first row (or even column) is selected first. Sometimes I have to repeat the steps to get the crash.
(In reply to Matthias Seidel from comment #7) > But yes, it seems to occur only when the first row (or even column) is > selected first. Sometimes I have to repeat the steps to get the crash. I've tested it again – no crash. Maybe this is special for Ubuntu 16.x like issue 126980?

I will put up a VM and install 14.04 to test it. It is now confirmed in Ubuntu 16.04, 16.10 and Debian 9 (64bit). I can not reproduce it on Windows or xubuntu 16.04 (32bit).
I can confirm: No crash under Ubuntu 14.04 (64bit)
