Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 127215
Fatal crashes, Fatal Error - Bad Allocation
Last modified: 2019-10-31 17:13:00 UTC
Ever since I opened up Windows Speech Recognition program (which doesn't work in OpenOffice) my OpenOffice 4.1.3 is always crashing. I can no longer copy & paste from the Internet into OpenOffice Writer without it crashing, even when using Paste Special:Unformatted text, and I can be using the spreadsheets and when I go to save the program will crash and gives me an error box saying "Fatal Error - Bad Allocation". Now that I've turned on the Windows Speech Recognition program I can't turn it off, it has already made changes to the computer - and also, I would like my voice to do the writing instead of my fingers. HELP
Try to run Windows in safe-mode Did you reproduce this crash?
and what am I supposed to do when i go into Windows Safe Mode? (how do I get there from Windows 10?) what do you mean, did I recreate this crash? it crashed again yesterday, seemingly for no reason at all. same message but I had just entered a number into the spreadsheet shortly after closing another spreadsheet (I will often have many open at the same time). I am not a programmer. I have been using the OpenOffice for several years. But I did have to get a new laptop in January and it came with Windows 10.
I'm not a programmer too but an end-user like you to help. This behavior is not typical and AOO runs fine with Windows 10. So maybe a program can interfered and crash another program like AOO.

To continue my original complaint and HELP NEEDED - it crashes when I try to copy a cell from one spreadsheet to another, from one page to another, from a spreadsheet to a word sheet, when I try to print any document to our company printer and for no seeming reason at all. Yes, to the Frenchman, I already mentioned that the problem started when I opened up the Windows Speech Recognition program. To my knowledge, there is no way to reverse that action. But now the problem continues to worsen. Shall I just give up on Open Office and find another program? Or is there someone who can help me? Someone who can repair this problem?
Indeed, if you don't test in safe-mode, we don't progress on this issue.
After +3 months: closed
I have some issues regarding with openCalc. and openWriter. In an unknow point next issue appear: - "Bad Allocation" and the application is automatically closed. Steps to recover: 1) Close App. 2) Re-start.
