Description Thomas Ronayne 2015-03-29 12:56:22 UTC
HP Officejet Pro 8600 with duplex installed does not retain settings and settings that do work do not make sense.

This network (Ethernet) printer works properly with every application and utility except OpenOffice; e.g., pipe a text file though lp, print a PDF, print a web page, print anything except OpenOffice documents, spread sheets, whatever. When printing an OO document, the options must be set for every job and are not retained (and I can't find anyplace to set them in stone either). Setting the option for "longedge" will not work at any time (that would be the desired default), rather, the option must be set to "ignore" for duplex printing and that is not retained either. Setting "ignore" is a trick someone came up with to make it work.

It's a pain in the butt. It's really a pain when multiple documents need to be printed and cannot be easily done because the trick setting is not retained and must be done for every single document.

The systems have current HPLIP and CUPS and all work as expected with the exception of OO.

Your bug report is being closed as NOT_AN_ISSUE due to a lack of information which is needed in order to accurately reproduce and confirm the problem. We need the following information (please ignore any that you've already provided):

a) Provide details of operating system (about distro, what hplip and cups versions, etc)

b) Provide a step-by-step procedure to reproduce (the simpler will be the better)

c) Provide screenshots of the problem if you think it might help

d) Generate a simple document with 2 pages and print it to a PS file (attach these files)

Once all of this is done, please set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we will attempt to reproduce the issue.
