after defining a range as Sum range and entering a value, the value is not calculated within the sum macro. The value being the result of the SUM macro does not change.

Thanks to save time for us to reproduce what you described:
1) attach an ODS file with your macro included
2) provide a step-by-step procedure to reach the problem
Remember that this is a bug tracking system and not a help desk.
