Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 124765
Error Condition using SAVE AS
Last modified: 2015-10-03 17:02:55 UTC
We are running Windows 8.1. In either the word processing application or the spread sheet application we get a window that comes up and after a long period of time we get the message in the banner across the top of the window, "SAVE AS (Not Responding). When we close the window we get the option to either close the program or continue to wait. We choose to wait, we waited 4 hours, no change. If we close the program and restart Open Office we get the opportunity to recover the file. Sometimes that works and sometimes not. I haven't experimented with it enough to determine the conditions that allow the changes to be recovered or not. I suspect it depends if the application has had time to do an auto save of the working file. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS "SAVE AS" does not seem to work.
I can make it happen anytime I use SAVE AS
I have the same version of Open Office on a machine using Windows 7 Professional. I cannot make the error occur there. I suspect there may be a comparability issue with Windows 8.1
I could not reproduce the described behavior on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise (running in a VM) with AOO 4.0.1 German
Does it happen also in Impress and Draw? Did you encounter this with older versions on the same machine? What are the hardware details? Can you please try 4.1 release candidate 4? http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/milestones/4.1.0-rc4/binaries/
I have an interesting turn of events. I went in to OPTIONS to check on the user profile. I looked at most of the tabs and changed the auto save time from 15 minutes to 10 minutes. Saved my changes and exited. It now APPEARS that SAVE and AUTO SAVE work!
This is strange. If you return to 15 minutes then bug reappears?
I cannot replicate the issue occurring with Save As. O/S: Windows 7 Enterprise AOO Version: AOO v4.0.1 HP Elitebook 8470 1. Start > Launch AOO > Text Document or Spreasheet (Also opened directly Open Writer and Calc) 2. Wrote in document 3. Attempted Save As (In both) Issue did not occur in any of the scenarios above. How large, or what type of documents were being save would help as well. *I also changed the Auto Save time to attempt and see if anything would be different when it comes to Save As but nothing occurred.
