Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 123292
Task Pane, Slide Layout, Custom Animations & Slide Transitions don't work (nothing happens when clicked)
Last modified: 2014-04-14 15:48:40 UTC
Task Pane link not shown on View menu and Task Pane does not appear when loading Impress. Also Slide Layout doesn't load from Formats (though does from Toolbar menu icon) and neither Custom Animations or Slide Transitions work when clicked from Slide Show menu (nothing happens when clicked)
View - Task Pane is missing (contrary to help description) Format - Slide Layout... works (via Sidebar) Slide Show - Custom Animation... works (via Sidebar) Slide Show - Slide Transition... works (via Sidebar) Rev. 1523756 Win 7
General note: First, the rule one bug report per issue should be applied to this. Second, the Task Pane does not exist any more in 4.0.0, it has been replaced by the sidebar. (In reply to Paul Snoding from comment #0) > Task Pane link not shown on View menu not a bug, but revision 1485158 > and Task Pane does not appear when loading Impress. not a bug, the Task Pane does not exist any more. > Also Slide Layout doesn't load from Formats (though does from Toolbar menu > icon) Confirmed. This is a regression. > and neither Custom Animations or Slide Transitions work when clicked > from Slide Show menu (nothing happens when clicked) It looks like you have disabled the sidebar (menu View - Sidebar) in Impress or some other application (Writer, Calc, etc.). Can you confirm this? If you enable the sidebar, those menu items work as expected, activating the respective sidebar deck. I see following bugs: - sidebar enabled/disabled setting should be remembered per application, not globally - in Impress, the sidebar should be enabled by default - if the sidebar is disabled in Impress, clicking does memu items should make the sidebar visible and activate the respective deck
I'd like to confirm this bug still exists, on 4.0.1 (PC) and 4.1 Dev (Mac). This is a showstopper; no way to define transitions, or reach Slide Layout, from the Context menu, or Menu, even when the Sidebar is visible. Please have someone confirm this, and raise a proper flag for it.

Correction: Eventually, I disabled & enabled the sidebar (it was enabled, but had width 0). So, it may not be a showstopper, but very annoying bug. I'd like to promote @Ariel's idea at the end of Comment #2.
