Description zhao xia 2012-03-01 08:52:22 UTC
Build: Dev Rev. 1293550

Reproduce steps:
1. Launch AOO 3.4
2. Open one odp or ppt file
3. Move your focus to any slide which is not the first slide
3. F5 to screen show the file

Problem:
You will find it always show the slide from current slide. Though I checked the slide settting, it means "show all slide".

I also checked the OO 3.3, it works the same way.

My question is: Is it the design? Means in AOO 3.4, screen show is designed to begin from current page? As one user, it makes me very unhappy.

Change the priority to P1.
Comment 2 Marcus 2012-03-01 20:20:58 UTC
Changed back to P3 as it doesn't fullfill the criteria for a P1 (e.g., crash, data loss).

Sorry, it totally confuse me.. If P means the crash, data lost etc. How to understand the severity? I means "Critical, Important etc"? Per the Bugzilla user guide, it defines the critieria as below:

"Priority: The bug assignee uses this field to prioritize his or her bugs. It's a good idea not to change this on other people's bugs.

Severity: This indicates how severe the problem is - from blocker ("application unusable") to trivial ("minor cosmetic issue"). You can also use this field to indicate whether a bug is an enhancement request."

I understand the severity is about the real impact one bug has, just like what you said like crash, data lost etc. But for P, it is priority, means the business impact this bug has.

The problem reported here much impact user experience. So I think it should be P1, how do you think?

See it like this:

Priority = How important is this issue?

Severity = How urgent is this issue?

Example 1:
A lot of users cannot install because of xyz error message.

So, it's a really important issue (P1) because when you cannot install a software at all, then you cannot do nothing with it.

But also the severity is high as this impacts a lot of users.

Example 2:
Calc is crashing when doing special 1-10 steps.

Priority is high as it's a crash and this should never happen.

However, the severity is low as you have to do 10 steps to force the crash. So, not very likely that his will happen often and for many users.

To come back to this issue:
Yes, it seems that this has changed from OOo 3.3 to AOO 3.4. However, the functionality in general (slide show) is still working. So, it cannot be a high priority. And therefore also the severity is not the highest.

However, of course I agree with you that this behavior is a bit annoying and I would also expect to start the slide show from any slide; depending of the selected slide. So, I think the set priority/severity is OK.

BTW:
Increasing these doesn't mean that the chance is better to get this fixed sooner. For the moment we are concentration on the AOO 3.4 release to bring it out as soon as possible. So, we are looking first and mainly for issues against license/legal, crash, freeze, security, data loss, build breaker, etc.
