I'm using OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 Writer on a Dell Precision Workstation 390 running Windows XP SP3.  The "Home" and "End" keys seem to do absolutely nothing in Writer.  They work perfectly in all of my other applications, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my keyboard (a standard Dell keyboard, nothing fancy).

I haven't Dell Precision Workstation 390 to verify. But I tried on two Thinkpad T61, one Mac desktop, they two keys work well.

So it seems this problem is special machine problem. I suggest down the severity, fermi31703@mypacks.net,how do you think?

I tried on a Dell OPTIPLEX 780 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine and was unable to replicate the bug. Moreover, my keyboard is also a Dell keyboard. It appears from your description that your keyboard functions properly with other applications. You might have custom shortcuts built-into OpenOffice using the "Home" and "End" keys preventing them from functioning the way they're supposed to. Check your keyboard shortcuts and clear any shortcuts using these 2 keys. Please let us know if that works as a solution. Good Luck!

I tried to replicate the issue using OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 Writer. I am using Windows XP SP3 on HP laptop. I was not able to replicate issue as such, but was able to change my keyboard customization and set it as such it appears that home and end key perform no function. Please check what are keyboard customizations set in your machine. To check keyboard customizations, here are steps:

1. Select Tools> Customize.
2. Select Keyboard Tab.
3. Select Your Home and end key in shortcuts and view what are they set to do.
4. Mine default says" Go to start of line" for home.

Please try these steps and see if it solves the issue.
